Haltermann Solutions™ Primary Reference Fuels (PRF)
Haltermann Solutions™ supplies a portfolio of high-purity Primary Reference Fuels (PRF). PRFs are required to determine the combustion quality of gasoline and diesel fuel. The key combustion parameter for gasoline is measured by determination of the octane number of the fuel while the combustion parameter for diesel is measured by the determination of cetane number. Both are measured in a Cooperative Fuel Research (CFR) engine.


Haltermann Solutions™ provides the analytical testing and refinery communities a variety of the high-purity PRF fuels they need to conduct testing for the octane number of gasoline fuels as well as cetane number of diesel fuels. The reference fuel is used in a Cooperative Fuel Research engine. The Haltermann Solutions™ portfolio of octane PRF fuels includes PRF grade iso-octane, toluene, n-heptane and Octane blend No. 80. Cetane Reference Fuels include Secondary Diesel Reference Fuels T & U as well as Diesel High and Low check fuels. All of these materials meet the specifications outlined in ASTM specification D-2699 and D-2700. Haltermann Solutions maintains world-class expertise in specialty chemical and solvent manufacturing. These capabilities allow Haltermann the ability to manufacture unique blend stocks for such PRF candidates.
